To raise profile of Seoul as the international 'tourism Seoul' to the people.

● The inaugural ceremony was held at the 'tourism information center of Seoul cultural exchange in Myong-dong on April 12.

● University students voluntarily perform the mission to let the people know the profile of Seoul as tourism city

● An outstanding team will be invited to attend the ceremony of awarding the Seoul tourism awards that takes place on June 4.

On April 12, Seoul Tourism Organization held the '2009 Seoul Tourism Awards Campus Reporters' at the 'Tourism Information Center of Seoul Cultural Exchange'.

Tourism major students of Seoul-based universities were invited to bid for the '2009 Seoul Tourism Awards Campus Reporters' and to undergo the internal screening process. As a result of internal screening, 62 students were selected as the final successful bidders.

These selected groups of campus reporters are assigned with the two-month mission to boost people's interest in Seoul tourism and 2009 Seoul Tourism Awards during the period of April through June. Their mission is also to extract and spread insightful and creative content that may be useful in spreading the image of Seoul as an international tourism attraction.
 

During their bidding period, they will be assigned with a total of four missions. After completing the final mission, they will be subject to the final assessment and judgment of how successfully their mission was done. In judgment, their activities will be measured on objective scales of creativeness, faithfulness and pro-activeness.

The finally selected group of outstanding students will be attending the ceremony of awarding the 'grand prize of Seoul tourism' that takes place on June 4. The most outstanding student will receive a reward in cash.

Seoul Tourism Organization that holds the grand prize. CEO Sam-ryul Gu said, "Through proactive and insightful activities of the youthful and creative-minded students, we will have a chance to reinvent and publicize the Seoul's charm of dynamic diversity. The mission is to extract and rediscover hidden charms of Seoul that exist in various places and people." He also added that the event will also help to raise the public interest in the 2009 Seoul Tourism Awards that takes place in June.
 

Meanwhile, the 2009 Seoul Tourism Awards, which is hosted by Seoul Metropolitan Government and is held by Seoul Tourism Organization, is aimed at bringing people both at home and abroad who have contributed to the tourism development and tourist attraction. The award ceremony is thus to raise the Seoul's profile as an international tourism city and to support Seoul's tourism industry through the recognition of its contribution to the tourism development.

The 2009 Seoul Tourism Awards is in its second year after its first in 2008, the event also holds the side events like Travel Mart or awarding ceremonies during June 1 through June 5.
